Before you listen

Some day we will look back on this season fondly for all it gave us. How often do we look at the present that way? We use the goal as the reason to enjoy it, but the great memories are what happens along the way. Be present to the magic of today.

It starts in the grocery aisle, remembering when peanut butter was $3.50 a jar and gas barely scraped $1. I am in a fitness season, feeling limber again and primed to repeat an old error: reaching for the next goal without fully relishing where I am in the process. You will only be your current age for 365 days. The family and friends in your life now are part of that gift.

Listen for the point of power. The past and the future evaporate as ideas, and the clock is ticking on the game you are in. Presence is a choice you can make or overlook.

From the talk

  • Right now you are experiencing what I would call the treasures of life, your point of power is right here.

  • Don't wait for the future, to realize what you could realize right now.

  • Even the dark moments have value because we've concluded a greater appreciation of who we want to become as a result of these things too.

Sit with this

Take some time and jot them down.

  1. How do I build a system and structure around it so I can fully, fully take advantage of this time in life that I've been given?

This one today is about more than anything else perspective. So without further ado, let us get into this episode strapping your seatbelts, open your mind prepared to receive prepared not only to receive but to begin to ask yourself the question of how do I make this idea relative not only in my life right now, but how do I build a system and structure around it so I can fully fully take advantage of this time in life that I’ve been given? Let’s go. The genesis of today’s episode probably stems back to a time, I want to say it was probably about 2006. Like many of you, I walked the aisles of the grocery store. Or when you drive and you look up at the gas price.

And you remember back to earlier time when laundry detergent was $6. Or peanut butter was $3.50 for a jar, or when gas prices. We’re barely scraping $1. And we look up at these prices and be like man, it was so good back then we look at those prices and say, Man, I can’t believe how much the price has increased. And it’s a natural response. There’s nothing entirely wrong about that. But there’s a secret not so much of a secret but a secret I want to let you in on is that right now is the time that we must relish. I’m currently in the midst of a fitness season a season where I am building my body I am tuning in I am getting rid of the excess I am reaching towards a state of optimal fitness and optimal health.

And through the process, certain ability, certain flexibility and mobility has come back to me. I feel rejuvenated I feel refreshed. I feel flexible and limber and powerful from my core. I am also at a place where I’m primed to possibly make a very egregious error. There are still goals I want to achieve. There’s a level of fitness and tonality and muscularity in my body that I want to achieve. And I’ve done it before I’ve achieved strength. I’ve achieved flexibility I’ve achieved many great feats. But I’ve fallen previously into the error I have not fully relishing where I was in the process, because we don’t know if something unexpected may come up, that will hold you apart from the dreams that you currently seek. But right now you are experiencing what I would call the treasures of life, your point of power is right here.

The future in the past, find a way to magically evaporate as ideas. But right now, you’re in the midst, you’re in the game, the clock is ticking. Are you fully present to what you currently have. So take the time to acknowledge and appreciate how far you’ve come, what this journey has taught you the things that you can do now that previously were out of your arm’s reach. And as you begin to do that you’re fully present, you’re more aware, you’re more appreciative, it becomes about what you’re capable of doing right now in the president on the road to the future dreams on the road to the future goals. Because I guarantee you you will only be the current age you are for 365 days not withstanding leap year.

And so make the most of the year you’re in make this be the year of X, Y, or Z. Because that future season that you’re reaching to will be a future season Exactly. But this now season deserves a level of appreciation. A level of focus, a level of presence, because like I say your point of power is right here and the now gas prices will go up. So appreciate that price. Right now. One of two candidates will be in our White House at the beginning of next year. So if you like Barak appreciate him right now. The price of peanut butter will search or whatever consumer good you’re in love with. And so appreciate that price right now. Because I guarantee you one thing as the gifts received, you will look back at this time and and brag about how amazing it was.

But don’t wait for the future, to realize what you could realize right now stand full presence and full perspective of the power of this moment. And that’s a choice. That’s a choice we could choose. That’s a choice we can look over. That’s a choice we can ignore. But what we can ignore, if we look at our life, if we look at our conversations, if we look at how we see how we were in our 20s how we were maybe in our late 20s 30s 40s 50s, and how we firmly gaze over all the freedom, all the power, all the vitality, all the you name it. It’s yours right now. You do not grow younger, with time, things have a way of inflating over time. So begin to appreciate the the essence of this unique gift that is available to you right now.

The family you have in your life, the friends you have in your life, the people that you can communicate with that share like minds and attitudes and beliefs and opinions that are in your life right now. Your ability to capitalize on the value against the economy right now, the free time you have right now, the fact that you have children in your life when at one point they may not have been there, or the fact that the children are out of the house and in college right now and there’s a quietness, a calmness, and now you have an ability to pursue more of your interests. We will always look back at this time fondly. Even the dark moments have value because we’ve concluded a greater appreciation of who we want to become as a result of these things too.

This is merely something to reflect upon something that if we don’t fully bring it into our week, our conversation monthly or the way that we begin to look at the world, we have the tendency to overlook the magic of right now. perspective, something I want to share with you.
